Marshall Gold State Historic Park

Dogs on leashes are allowed on several of the trails in this state park. Lots of history, with signage detailing the area's history, all on well-maintained pathways. Along Highway 49, there's a true gem.

The El Dorado Trail - Forni Rd to Missouri Flat Rd Segment is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a nationwide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Placerville! The map below shows a parking place with easy access to the Forni Rd to Missouri Flat Rd segment of the El Dorado Trail.
