Wright's Field is 230 acres of oak-studded rolling grassland. There are no signs directing you to the open field from the streets; you must look for it. Although there are no official trails, one can meander around this open field and build 2-3 mile circle excursions. Equestrians and dog walkers, as well as trail runners, frequent this region. Because there is no water provided, you and Petzooie should bring your own. From the main thoroughfare, park along South Grade Road and proceed for about a mile. The Back Country Land Trust looks after the property.

Wells Park Off-Leash Dog Facility is a 1.4-acre dog-friendly area in El Cajon, California, with two distinct areas for larger dogs and smaller/shy breeds. There are several lovely shade trees, as well as a shelter with picnic tables. After their play, your dog will enjoy a specifically built water fountain for dogs to cool off. The park is also equipped with lighting, allowing you to use it at night.

Beautiful, dog-friendly walking trails may be found in Hollenbeck Canyon Wildlife Area in Jamul, California. There are more difficult courses for those who prefer a challenge, as well as easier pathways for those who simply want to spend quality time with their four-legged companions. This trail is also suitable for horses.

Cuyamaca Peak via Azalea Glen Loop is a tough, 7.7-mile dog-friendly path in Descanso, CA that takes about two hours to complete and includes a river. From October to June, the path is at its best. Dogs on leashes are welcome to accompany you on the hike. There is a per-vehicle day-use cost.

Woodglen Vista Dog Park in Santee, California, is a dog-friendly, fully-fenced, off-leash dog park with shade and water. Woodglen Vista Park also offers a grass field and facilities. When outside of the dog park, please keep Petzooie on a leash.

The 728-acre Barnett Ranch Preserve near Ramona, California, is dog-friendly and has 4 miles of multi-use trails, including a 2.5-mile loop for walking, running, biking, and equestrian riding. Because there is no water source other than a horse trough at the start of the trek, bring plenty of water. Keep an eye out for wildlife, such as coyotes and the possibility of seeing mountain lions. Because this is a high-risk wildfire area, be careful what you bring to your picnic; no candles or glass. On the hiking trails, there are no trash cans. Every day, from sunrise to sunset, pedestrian access is accessible. Petzooie must be kept on a leash at all times.
