Iron Horse Regional Trail

This family-friendly park features a play area and a sand pit for building castles, so bring your leashed pet for a quiet afternoon. The excellent dog park is divided into two huge enclosed areas with plenty of grass, seating spots, and some shade.

Pets will enjoy the freedom to wander this open space in Walnut Creek. It's a lovely spot for them to get some exercise.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Iron Horse Regional Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Danville! A parking lot with easy access to the Iron Horse Regional Trail is shown on the map below.

If your pet is under voice control, he or she is permitted to play with you off-leash anywhere in the park except the trails and sports grounds. The area is not fenced.

Nearly every business in Walnut Creek's open-air Broadway Plaza Shopping Center, including Nordstrom's, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and many others, welcomes dogs.
