Pepe J. Hernandez is the founder of PJH Dog Training and a CPDT-KA certified professional dog trainer with a Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience. His path into training is a little unusual — he came to it through the science first. Studying how the mammalian nervous system processes fear, threat, and learning, he kept arriving at the same conclusion: the behaviors we label “bad” in dogs are almost always the nervous system doing exactly what it evolved to do.
