Joey's Feline Friends (JFF), a non-profit, no-kill shelter and rescue group devoted to the care of neglected, abused, and physically challenged cats and kittens on the island of O'ahu, was established by Tedra Villaroz in 1998.

The Hawaiian Humane Society is committed to advancing the relationship between people and animals and the humane treatment of all animals.

We were simply a handful of cat lovers who were dedicated to doing the right thing on a remote island without a shelter, rescue organization, or doctor. Leading these initiatives was the vivacious cat lover and founder of The Sanctuary, Kathy Carroll (pictured), who had relocated to the island with her artist husband Mike. In the beginning, her activism and innovation propelled the organization.

The Kaua'i Humane Society is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote compassion, respect, and responsibility for all animals while enhancing lives on the island of Kaua'i and beyond by fostering positive pet-human relationships.
