Southaven City Animal Shelter

Big River Animal Society's overarching goal is to preserve the lives of homeless animals, especially those who have been abandoned, mistreated, and are physically and mentally damaged, by providing emergency shelter, compassionate care, and rehabilitation in a secure setting.

We are a little shelter run by Hernando City. Through spaying/neutering, vaccination, finding suitable homes for stray animals that come into our care, and the enforcement of animal protection legislation, we hope to enhance and safeguard the lives of animals in our city. We defend Hernando residents by upholding local and state regulations pertaining to animals. Making Hernando the most animal-friendly city in northern Mississippi is our main objective.

We offer shelter and care for stray animals, place shelter animals in new homes, inform the public about how to properly care for animals, and promote spay/neuter to reduce the number of dogs and cats.

The goal of Mutt Mafia Rescue is to make a difference in the lives of the dogs we rescue and the homes where they are placed. When open intake shelters are full, we move dogs from other rescues and withdraw dogs from open admission shelters as well.
