Paws Pet Adoption Center

The public is protected through programs created by Animal Control Services from health risks and annoyances brought on by hazardous animals.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, PAWS is eligible to receive contributions, bequests, legacies, devices, transfers, and gifts from all contributors, provided that all legal requirements are met.

To provide information about proper pet ownership, to protect, shelter, and encourage the adoption of homeless animals, and to minimize pet overpopulation through spay/neuter programs.

Animal Services patrols the city in search of lost and stray animals, responds to animal complaints, and enforces local and state animal control laws. The business is unique from other local governments in that it runs its own facilities for animal control.

We are committed to "Helping the Helpless," even though our main goal is to aid with the cost of spaying and neutering in order to lessen the number of animals put to death in shelters.

The only no-kill shelter in Craven County is Colonial Capital Humane Society (CCHS), which was founded in 1978. We are dedicated to giving abandoned, abused, and neglected animals a nurturing environment while they wait for their forever homes. CCHS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies on donations and volunteer labor.
