Friends of Long Beach Animals is a nonprofit organization that was originally known as Friends of Long Beach Animal Shelter and is committed to promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare awareness, and humane treatment of all animals.

We are a charity, all-breed pet rescue in Southern California that was incorporated in 2006. Our main priorities are the rescue, treatment, and rehoming of neglected and abandoned animals.

One common misconception regarding our shelter system is that if those lovely, little kittens or stray, abandoned cats are brought to an animal shelter, they will be protected, cared for, and adopted out. and regrettably, that is not the situation. In fact, because there are too many animals that end up in shelters, the majority of kittens under 8 weeks old are put to death right away or the same day they are taken in. Change is what the Little Lion Foundation wants to see happen!

Since 1955, our grassroots organization has been preventing pet overpopulation in Southern California. We offer low-income pet owners financial assistance for spay/neuter procedures, humane education in the neighborhood, support for legislation that safeguards animals, and services for animal adoption and rescue.
