Heart of Alabama: Save, Rescue, Adopt

The mission of Florence Lauderdale Animal Services is to provide our community with compassionate and effective animal care and control services. In the City of Florence and Lauderdale County, we accept any stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets. Every year, we work with fosters, volunteers, neighborhood adopters, and different rescues to find homes for thousands of unwanted animals.

Most of the dogs we rescue are little breeds like chihuahuas. For more than 20 years, we have been saving and nurturing dogs. Our mission is to locate animals who have no home or a poor start in life and find them a caring forever home.

Pet enthusiasts can find the pet that best suits their needs while relaxing in front of their laptops. They can then look up a shelter's website to learn more about the services it provides. To assist in keeping pets in their homes, Petfinder also offers discussion boards, a directory of pet-care providers, and a library of free pet-care materials.

Animal control officials in Athens and Limestone County, as well as residents who find stray animals or can no longer care for their pets, bring nearly 4,000 dogs and cats to the Athens Limestone Animal Shelter every year. Every attempt is made to find each and every adoptable dog and cat loving, forever homes as well as to reconnect missing animals with their family.

In order to examine and stabilize the physical and emotional needs of Boston Terriers and Boston Terrier mixes in need and find them the finest possible homes, Birmingham Boston Terrier Rescue is a 501(c)3 Non Profit Organization. In an effort to keep these dogs from ever needing rescue, we offer advice and assistance to pet owners. Finally, in order to save animals and promote humane treatment of animals, we collaborate with other rescue groups, shelters, and other like-minded organizations.

Our priorities include promoting the human/animal link, humane treatment of animals, respect for life, and good public service.
