In 1980, the Northwest SPCA was established as a private, non-profit organization with the mission of advancing animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. Our charitable, 501(c)(3) organization is recognized by the IRS, and our humane programs and services include pet-facilitated therapy, lost and found pet referral, animal rescues, humane education speakers to local schools and community groups, pet microchipping, animal cruelty and/or neglect investigations, pet adoptions, and animal sheltering.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit, our organization's mission is to save animals and find them owners who will give them permanent homes.Deb Jackson, who runs Deb's Claws & Paws Rescue Inc., devotes her time to assisting both owners and animals in need of new best mates.

The City of Yuba City, Sutter County, and Live Oak collaborated to create the 11,334-square-foot Sutter Animal Services Shelter as a symbol of their dedication to the welfare of animals.

The animal shelter, which is located at 2579 Fair St. in Chico, is owned and run by the City of Chico. A division of the Chico Police Department is the Chico Animal Shelter. The shelter, which is a component of Animal Services, accepts sick and injured cats as well as abandoned and stray canines from the incorporated areas of the City of Chico.

A well-known non-profit animal rescue organization in California is called Friends of the Formerly Friendless. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are acknowledged by the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service. All donations are fully deductible from taxes to the fullest extent permitted by law.
