Acadia Parish Animal Control

We are a no-kill dog shelter in Louisiana's Shreveport. We operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We depend only on donations and volunteers to survive.

The prevention of animal cruelty, the alleviation of animal suffering, the expansion of humane education, and the provision of shelter-based services are our main goals.

The Department of Animal Control for Ouachita Parish is charged for maintaining the public safety and health as linked with domestic and wild animals, and illnesses thereto

Leigh Ann Albritton and Ren Dowhaniuk, two friends who were drawn together by a love of animals and a mutual interest, founded Simply Southern Rescue. Ren has since moved and is no longer involved with the rescue.

The Lincoln parish nonprofit 4 paws is committed to the welfare of stray, neglected, and abandoned animals. We offer community education while vehemently supporting heartworm prevention, spaying and neutering, and proper pet ownership.

Our goal is to rescue and rehome small-breed dogs in particular. The majority of the animals we have come from kill shelters in Northwest Louisiana. We also take in a lot of breeder dogs that are retiring.
