Gives dogs and cats in Champaign County who are stray, unwanted, or owner-rendered temporary housing and care. The Prairieland Anti-Cruelty Spay may also provide a wide range of further services.

This facility houses all animals seized as strays or impounded in the unincorporated areas of the County, in municipalities that have an animal control service agreement with the County, and in the Cities of Champaign and Urbana.

To stop animal abuse, promote animal welfare, educate the public about how to treat animals humanely, raise awareness of the problem of companion animal overpopulation and offer solutions, and provide high-quality care, shelter, and adoption services for animals as needed.

Since launching our Community Cats program in 2022, we've discovered that the program requires feral cat dens to function properly. Consider giving a den if you are passionate about cat rescue, TNR, or just want to help.
