The purpose of Mitchell County Animal Rescue is to protect, rescue, and care for unwanted and abandoned animals; to raise awareness of the value of spaying and neutering in lowering the number of stray animals; to rehome animals; and to instruct young people in the humane treatment of animals.

Pets give us much more in return, including lessons in love, enhancements to our mental and physical well-being, and friendship and unconditional love.

We want to set an example for how all cats should be treated humanely as they age. We offer foster care and sanctuary homes while we seek funds to construct our senior cat sanctuary.

Animal Haven of Asheville was established in May 2000 by Barbara Bellows and Trina Hudson. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was established in 2007 to improve the lives of companion animals and the humans who care for them. We collaborate across county borders with the aim of using powerful, strategic, and creative programs to save as many lives as we can.
