Animal Rescue Coalition

Animals from all across the county that are brought in as strays or surrenders are cared for and housed at the Newaygo County Animal Shelter (NCAS). We make every effort to return animals to their owners, find new homes for them as family pets, or transfer them to rescue organizations for rehoming anywhere in Michigan or elsewhere.

In essence, we rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome ACDs whose former homes have vanished. There are many different causes for this, but the most common issue is when someone chooses a breed of dog that is not compatible with their personality or way of life.

The West Michigan area's homeless and/or injured dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies are cared for and placed for adoption at Lake Haven, a private, non-profit, all-volunteer animal rescue facility.

A non-profit 501c3 organization, Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter and Training Center provides services. In order to get the abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs and cats in our shelter ready for adoption by those looking for a lifelong companion, we are committed to their health and well-being.

Animal Control carries out kennel inspections, gathers up stray dogs, investigates animal abuse, and enforces the state of Michigan's dog laws.
