Anyone in the St. Louis and Southwest Illinois region can adopt a dog or cat from the St. Clair County Animal Adoption Center.

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with foster homes on both sides of the river that specializes in the rescue of small breed dogs.

We're getting ready once more with the intention of cleaning out our shelter by Thanksgiving! This holiday-themed extension of our year-round Slumber Pawty Dog Program encourages families to foster dogs, giving them a much-needed vacation from the stress of the shelter while they are at home.

Great pets of various shapes, sizes, and temperaments can be found at Helping Strays. Through our Shelter Buddy program, volunteer work, and fostering, we get to know our animals so that we can help you find the perfect fit. To make sure your new family member gets along with any other animals already living in the house, we may also offer testing with other animals.

We believe we can help one breed better if we concentrate our efforts, which is why Metro East Lab Rescue only helps Labs. But as we adore all canines and felines, we frequently have a number of non-labs and a number of cats in need of loving homes.

Ten dedicated volunteers who were convinced that southern Illinois needed a no-kill animal shelter founded the APA in Granite City in March of 1972.
