Calhoun County Animal Center

A volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit, Companion Cats was founded. Our goal is to put an end to the suffering of stray and abandoned cats by spaying or neutering them and locating them suitable homes.

Animals who have been abused or neglected must be saved, cared for, retrained, and placed in new homes. We do not kill. corporation without profit.

At the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, we support second chances. All of Calhoun County, as well as portions of Kalamazoo, Barry, and Branch counties, are included in our service area. After passing temperament testing and being given a health checkup, we retain animals for as long as it takes to find them a loving home for adoption. Every day of the year, the Watkins Road shelter provides care for up to 100 animals. Each year, the Society's programs for animal care, adoption, and education are utilized by several locals.

A 501(c)3 charity cat rescue and foster facility called Cat Nap Lodge Community Center is situated in Richland, Michigan, halfway between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek.

We all had the opportunity to contribute by using our individual strengths; collectively, we cleaned cages, did laundry, handled office and clerical tasks, sorted cat treats, gave out prescriptions, and of course, socialized the cats and kittens.

The Kalamazoo Humane Society is a non-sheltering nonprofit that promotes animal welfare and works to reduce pet overpopulation and increase access to affordable veterinarian care.
