Puget Sound Rescue

Animal rescue is the focus of the nonprofit organization Puget Sound Rescue. Over 4,000 dogs that were in danger of being put to sleep have found loving homes thanks to the 20 years that we have spent rescuing pets in south King County.

An all-volunteer, nonprofit group called Cascade Animal Protection Society (CAPS) works to save the lives of unwanted, injured, and abandoned animals in the Puget Sound region. The animals that we take in come from a range of backgrounds. Until a permanent, caring home is found for these animals, they are housed in foster homes.

Pets and people from seven cities in eastern Pierce County and southern King County are housed, protected, and brought together by Metro Animal Services, a cooperation. The City of Puyallup provides a shelter that is used by Metro, which is run by the City of Sumner. By interlocal agreement, the cities of Algona, Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Milton, and Pacific take part.
