After being released from the U.S. Army, Dr. Fredrick A. Hunter constructed the Hunter Veterinary Clinic in 1953. At the end of the Korean War, the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. Graduate of the Washington State College Veterinary School in 1945, he and his future wife Patricia moved back to Spokane to open a small animal clinic after they first met there.
He didn't stop working until 1996, when he decided to retire. He served a period as president of the Inland Empire Veterinary Medical Association, which included seven counties in eastern Washington, throughout his tenure. He also frequently visited the WSU Vet School to lecture about the commercial aspects of veterinary practice.
