San Francisco Pet Hospital, which is thought to be Northern California's oldest veterinary hospital, was opened in 1905, a year before the 1906 Earthquake. The hospital used to treat many kinds of animals, from carriage horses to dairy cows, but now it only treats the dogs and cats we call family.Our more recent history begins with Dr. Lee Morris, who bought the hospital in 1979 and reopened it in 1981 after a two-year renovation. Dr. Morris sold the facility to Dr. Bobby Leyba, his associate veterinarian of 16 years, in 2019, after a long and successful career.

Since the early 1920s, Blue Cross Pet Hospital, which is entrenched in San Francisco history, has effectively provided Veterinary Care for the pets of the city of San Francisco. Dr. J Krom was the one who started the clinic.Dr. Krom started out as a solo practitioner, and Blue Cross Pet Hospital developed alongside the city of San Francisco. Dr. H Creely, Dr. M. Simmons, Dr. D. Strohauer, and Dr. Sherman Wong were among the notable veterinarians who worked at Blue Cross Pet Hospital over the years.
