Peterson Smith Equine Hospital + Complete Care

Dr. John Peterson and Dr. Johnny Mac Smith, two single horse practitioners in the Ocala area, founded Peterson & Smith P.A. in August 1981. Dr. Philip Matthews, who had recently graduated from Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, was requested to join the clinic. In 1982, Dr. Kevin Hahn was hired, then in 1983, Dr. Donnie Slone. Dr. Matthews joined the firm as a partner in 1985, followed by Drs. Hahn and Slone. As the practice grew over the years, more veterinarians joined the team. Peterson Smith Equine Hospital + Complete Care, originally Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital, presently has 26 veterinarians on staff, nine of whom are partners.
