We pride ourselves on our commitment to giving outstanding care to our patients and clients. We are a locally owned full-service small and exotic animal hospital that also offers upscale and luxury boarding for dogs and cats.

Dr. Robert Lofton and his wife Lela bought a little mobile home in the fall of 1974, made some improvements, put out a shingle, and the University Animal Clinic was established. The goal has always been to be accessible, to perform high-quality medicine, and to provide extremely excellent care to both clients and their dogs. Based on the fundamental tenet, University Animal Clinic quickly outgrew the first clinic and relocated into the current location in 1976. Dr. Michael Woodward, an honors graduate of Auburn University, joined the firm in 1978 and later was made a partner. Following her graduation from LSU in 1993, Dr. Karen Goeckel joined the UAC staff and, together with Dr. Woodward, was named Co-Managing DVM in 2013. The philosophy has evolved over time.

A reputable small animal veterinarian hospital offering complete medical, surgical, and dental care is Lake Area Animal Hospital. We also facilitate pet adoptions. Animals can be seen at the Lake Charles Petsmart during regular business hours or on Saturdays from 12 to 4 PM.

Our caring staff works to make each appointment enjoyable, educational, and stress-free for you and your pet. We provide excellent boarding and a $25 bath, ears, and nails special for our dog patients. We are a single doctor veterinary practice emphasizing personalized, compassionate care for your pet.

Serving Lafayette and the neighborhood for more than 20 years is the Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic. The support staff's collective experience in emergency care exceeds 50 years.
Three veterinarians, including Dr. Moreau, the clinic's owner, are on staff. There is a veterinarian on duty at LAEC at all times. Every patient is seen in the order of arrival.
A veterinarian will prioritize and assess urgent and critical patients based on how urgently they are presented.

Dr. Jim Carson III founded Carson Veterinary Clinic in 1982, and it has been proudly serving the Acadiana region ever since.
