Kathleen studied and worked in a variety of fields before deciding to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She has worked as a family educator for abused and neglected children, as an assistant teacher in special education, and as the owner and operator of her own home day care. Her true calling, however, did not come until she was offered the opportunity to work as a veterinary technician. Kathleen graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in zoology and accepted a position with the USDA's Wildlife Services in Fort Collins, Colorado. She finished her formal veterinary study at Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine while there, and has subsequently advanced her studies to include veterinary acupuncture certification.
