Dr. Leon K. Leonis established the Summit Animal Hospital in Summit, Illinois, in the early 1950s. In their home at 6050 S., Dr. Leonis and his wife started their animal practice. Harlem. It has always been the same structure that you can see now. Dr. Leonis served as Summit Animal Hospital's lone doctor for forty years. Dr. Leonis sold his practice to Dr. Gary R. Friederich in 1992, but he continued to collaborate with him on a part-time basis. Dr. Friederich, who comes from the small Illinois town of Pekin and graduated from the veterinary school at Iowa State University in 1970, admired the atmosphere Dr. Leonis built at the Summit facility. He spent much of his childhood living with his grandparents.
