The first shelter was one block from where we are currently on Martinez's eastern outskirts. The Board of Supervisors and local dignitaries dedicated a gorgeous two-acre state-of-the-art shelter complex and six-stall barn with open corral space, totalling more than 38,000 square feet, in May 2005.
