Dr. Walter France established Bradenton Small Animal Hospital in 1947 before renaming it Bradenton Veterinary Hospital. Near the end of the second war to end all wars, Dr. France, a World War I veteran, opened his clinic. Bradenton Small Animal Hospital started off as a mixed animal clinic. In 1957, Dr. France sold Dr. Clair Butler the practice. For the following 54 years, Dr. Butler oversaw the business! Dr. Butler observed an increasing need for pet care later in his career. After restricting the practice to pet care, he immediately realized that the building needed to be expanded. Bradenton Small Animal Hospital grew to be one of the busiest clinics in the Bradenton region under Dr. Butler's direction.
