We are a second-generation animal clinic that has been serving Morgan County for almost 60 years. Dr. Ray Ashwander founded the practice in 1945, and his son, Dr. Charles Ashwander, joined him in 1979. Since 1957, Ashwander Animal Clinic has been located at 2001 6th Avenue SE in Decatur, AL. It was initially located on Moulton Street in downtown Decatur. Dr. Ashwander is a veterinary medicine graduate of Auburn University. He's a member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, among other organizations. Dr. Dennis Haynes worked in this hospital nearly fifty years ago while attending Auburn University's veterinary school. Dr. Dennis Haynes bought the abandoned East Point Veterinary Hospital property in 2008, where he had worked with Dr. Tommy Little and Dr. Tom Williamson for forty years. After 35 years as the owner of Compton's Veterinary Hospital in Cullman, he reopened the firm in 2010. In the tradition of the many outstanding vets who have previously practiced in this site, he continues to deliver gentle and caring treatment. Since 1974, Dr. Haynes has been entrusted with the care of generations of clients' pets, farm animals, and working animals. We hope to be of service to you as well.
