In 1978, Concord Pet began in a trailer at Larry's Mobile. The Mutschler family needed a way to feed their horses at first. On Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware, Larry Mutschler launched his first retail outlet in 1981. In a 1,000-square-foot structure, there was only one worker. Larry had two partners in the beginning: his brother and a close buddy. By the year 1998, the business had expanded to nine locations.
