 The two became friends over a British puppy that Davis had acquired when stationed in England during World War II. The two remained friends after completing the lucky dog's relocation to the United States, working together in the pet food industry. Davis died in the late 1960s, but Cohen continued to handle their business until 1995, when Barry Jacobson and his sons Adam and Ari, who currently oversee it, bought it.
