We started off as a modest shop on Centinela Avenue in Mar Vista. Al Barnes, co-owner of the Carson and Barnes circus, intended to build his own city in 1926. The municipal hall for Barnes City was the site of Centinela Feed's future headquarters. Barnes City existed for a year before being absorbed into Los Angeles. However, the structure was preserved long enough for it to be designated as a historical landmark.
