Zamzows has long been renowned in the Treasure Valley as an outstanding garden and pet supply company, but few are aware of its rich past. It all started with a botched train stop in 1933, when brothers August and Carl Zamzow slipped away aboard a train from Minnesota to California. August got off the train in Meridian to get some lunch for them, but the train took off before he could get back on. August soon found jobs and planted roots after becoming stranded in Meridian. He married Carmalita House, who would eventually become known as Grandma Z.

The Boise Co-op was founded in 1973 by a group of health-conscious individuals looking for nutritious, delicious food at affordable pricing. They had no idea that their seed of inspiration would bloom into a community of over 32,000 people who share their love for healthy eating!
