Our beautiful Duchess was more than just a dog — she was family, a loyal companion, and the heart of our home. For 5 amazing years, she filled our lives with unwavering love, gentle affection, and joyful companionship. She was a constant presence, always near, always watching, always caring. Duchess had a deep soul and a gentle spirit. She served as a daily co-therapist to Patti’s clinical psychology clients, offering calmness and quiet support in the most natural way — simply by being herself. Her ability to comfort others was a gift she shared freely. Her favorite treat was Duck Jerky, and she had a refined palate — sirloin steak, roasted chicken, roast beef, turkey, blueberries, macadamia nuts, and ice cream were always met with delight. Spoiled? Absolutely. Deserved? Every bit of it. She loved sunbathing on the patio, exploring her favorite “Secret Place,” and bursting with excitement any time we returned home — her tail wagging so hard in the garage it would thump both cars as she ran between them, hoping for a new toy or a treat. Duchess was a quiet soul who only barked when it mattered — like when another dog dared to peek through our gate. In her younger years, she’d chase rabbits with enthusiasm and would proudly retrieve toys thrown in our favorite getaway spot. Bath time was never a battle, as long as a Duck Jerky bribe was involved. Her squeaky toys never stood a chance. She’d tear through each one with the determination of a champion, seeking the elusive squeaker inside. She always found it. It was her mission — and she never lost. She slept soundly in our bedroom, rotating between her seven cozy beds throughout the house. No matter what we were doing — getting ready for work, moving room to room — Duchess was always close behind. She simply wanted to be with us, and we always wanted her near. Duchess brought light, laughter, and love into every day. We miss her beyond words, but her spirit will forever be part of our lives. We take comfort in knowing she’s now at peace — and we like to believe she’s just beyond the bridge, still sunbathing, still watching, and still waiting to greet us with that same happy tail. Rest easy, sweet girl. You were, and always will be, our Duchess.
