Two Colorado teenagers save the pets of family from the Marshall Fire.
(KUSA/CNN) – SUPERIOR, Colo. – After the terrible Marshall Fire in Colorado, hundreds of families are still picking up the debris.
While many have commended the firefighters' bravery in fighting the fire, two adolescents should be acknowledged for saving their aunt and uncle's dogs.
Karla and Chip Bennet's home in Superior, Colorado, was completely destroyed by the Marshall Fire. They do have the necessities, such as their pets.
Colin and Nick Folsom, the Bennets' nephews, were the ones who saved the animals, not the Bennets.
Nick Folsom claimed his father called to inform him that there was a fire behind Sagamore [neighborhood] and that he should come down to retrieve all of the dogs and belongings.
At the time, the Folsoms' aunt and uncle were not at home. Fortunately, the teenagers didn't have to travel far.
Nick Folsom explained, We just rounded up, walked inside, and found all the pets that were there.
Colin Folsom recalled, Fire was coming across the field, and we knew it wouldn't be long before it reached to us.
They grabbed crucial documents, a work iPad, and a few other items despite the impending fire.
I was just trying to get the computer to get itself... maybe two minutes passes and Colin says, Hey, we've got to go like now, says the narrator. Nick Folsom expressed his thoughts.
With three cats and Rocky the dog in the back of the truck, the two made it out of the house barely in time. Unfortunately, one cat was unable to join the rest of the pack.
Their aunt and uncle claim that their nephews' tender ages had no bearing on what they could do in a circumstance like this.
Karla Bennet explained that they took it upon themselves. I mean, that's the most incredible part. The maturity, the capacity to simply walk into it rather than sleeping in, as if they cared.
Chip Bennet remarked, They're mature beyond their years in my opinion, and we can never thank them enough.
The Bennets have stated that they intend to rebuild their home. They only had it for about eight months before it was destroyed in the fire, and they think it will be easier for them to return now that the majority of their creatures have survived.
