Sun City Pet Club Donates to Animal Shelter to Aid Rescued Pets
The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter surprisingly accepted 41 animals rescued from an alleged abusive environment on March 10. The facility, which was already at capacity, issued a plea for assistance. The Sun City Pet Club and its 650 members were quick to respond.
Misty Valenta, director of the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, confirmed, Right now, our primary priority is to keep these dogs safe and sound and address any ailments. At this time, these canines are not eligible for adoption or foster care. They'll need to be fed by the shelter.
The Sun City Pet Club's president, Alan Kamen, called Valenta to offer assistance and discovered that the shelter's greatest need was for pet food and supplies to care for the additional 41 inmates. Kamen then sought help from Wag Heaven Pet Supplies, a nearby pet business. Initially, the Pet Club donated about 900 pounds of dry dog food, as well as other requested items including dog beds, towels, linens, and animal cages.
Wag Heaven was able to order a huge quantity of pet food at a discounted rate, allowing the Pet Club to purchase and donate more to the shelter. The large donation was made possible via membership dues and other resources. Terry Ross of Sun City's Neighborhood 22 enlisted the help of her neighbors and received an SUV load of donated bedding, towels, pet carriers, leashes, and blankets.
The Sun City Pet Club is continuing to make preparations to give and generate monies in response to the appeal for assistance. Individual members have been buying extra food and supplies at a discount from Wag Heaven to donate to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
The Sun City Pet Club is made up of inhabitants of Sun City, an active adult retirement community near Georgetown, Texas. The club's aim also includes assisting local animal rescue organizations and shelters.
The club's unwavering support for Georgetown and the local pet community is admirable. It responds to requests from a variety of groups on a regular basis, always with a charitable attitude. Members also donate countless hours to help shelters and rescue organizations in the Georgetown region care for their pets, including walking them, adopting, fostering, contributing cash, and more.
The pet club members are a fantastic example of what it means to look out for one another, said Jeff Manley, Wag Heaven's co-owner. We are ecstatic to have the opportunity to help the club support our local animal welfare community. Manley lives in Sun City Georgetown with her husband, Wag Heaven co-owner Jusak Yang Bernhard, and is a member of the Sun City Pet Club.
