Pocha Pets Boutique in Pilsen is celebrating its first anniversary with a pet-friendly weekend pop-up.
PILSEN, M.D. — After losing her work due to the epidemic, Cynthia Soto of Pocha Pets Boutique opened a boutique in Pilsen to offer apparel for dogs and cats a year ago.
Soto is doing a pop-up this weekend at her 1840 S. Racine Ave. store to mark the anniversary and thank the community.
Customers can bring their pets to the restaurant for a complimentary champagne toast, taco bar, "pawpcakes," and other treats from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Pocha's Facebook page has a complete list of participating vendors.
Soto attributes much of Pocha's success to the tremendous support she's received from the community.
The community has been extremely supportive, Soto remarked.
When Soto's shop first opened, news got around through small shops in Pilsen, and consumers suggested it to others, she said.
Soto, in turn, enjoys hosting pop-ups in her store to help other up-and-coming small companies, she said.
