ON APRIL 9, WALKER COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER AND PETCO LOVE TO "GIVE PETS THEIR BEST SHOT."
Chickamauga, Georgia — On April 9th, the Walker County Animal Shelter will offer a free pet vaccine event in collaboration with national nonprofit Petco Love to provide pets the greatest chance for a healthy life.
Petco Love will donate free pet vaccines to the Walker County Animal Shelter for family pets in need, in order to encourage pet parents to keep their pets up to date on immunizations. As the puppy and kitten season progresses, pets are exposed to more dangerous and severe infections like parvovirus, distemper, and panleukopenia. These infections, on the other hand, can be avoided with a simple vaccination.
The Walker County Animal Shelter hopes to vaccinate over 600 pets under the Give Pets Their Best Shot project. The free vaccine clinic will be held at the Walker County Animal Shelter, 5488 North Marble Top Road in Chickamauga, on Saturday, April 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines will be distributed as part of the Petco Love project. For many pet parents, treatment for these terrible diseases can be prohibitively expensive, said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. We can assist these creatures have a healthy life by delivering free immunizations to those in need. We continue our 22-year legacy of strategic investments and innovation to stop avoidable pet euthanasia with this national endeavor and our other Petco Love Care projects.
We encourage the Walker County community to take advantage of Petco Love's free resource to help limit the transmission of disease and ensure the health and wellness of our community's pets," said Emily Sadler, Shelter Director. We will also offer microchipping for $10 during this vaccine session, in addition to these free vaccines. If your four-legged pet is lost, stolen, or ends up in a shelter, microchipping boosts your chances of being reunited with them.
Petco Love began a million free pet vaccine program last year, which has benefited 400,000 pets so far. Fifty percent of pet parents who took part in the poll said their pets had never received a parvovirus, distemper, or panleukopenia vaccination. Petco Love's mission is to raise vaccine awareness and accelerate vaccine delivery with the help of Bissell Pet Foundation.
