Nicolas Cage enjoys the goth lifestyle.
The 58-year-old actor stated in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times that he has a pet crow named Hoogan, who resides in a geodesic dome at Cage's Las Vegas home, and that he chose the pet for a specific reason.
Crows have a high level of intelligence. I really enjoy their appearance, which has an Edgar Allan Poe feel to it. The gothic element appeals to me. Cage admitted to the site that he is a goth.
Cage, who plays a fictionalized version of himself in the upcoming film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, also revealed that the crow speaks to him on occasion.
He's started calling me names... According to the Los Angeles Times, "it's comical, at least to me."
He'll say, 'Bye,' and then go, 'Ass,' he said when I left the room.
The actor also revealed that he has two cats: Merlin, a four-year-old Maine Coon cat, and Teegra, a two-year-old Maine Coon cat.
In the upcoming horror film Renfield, Cage will play Dracula. Renfield will begin shooting next month, and in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the self-described "goth" discussed some of his ambitions for the picture.
Cage stated, I believe mobility is the key. I saw the film Malignant, and the dance developed by director James Wan and actress [Annabelle Wallis] was horrifying. So I'm aiming to make something along those lines, with Dracula gliding or moving like Sadako in Ringu."
Riko Shibata is Cage's wife. The 27-year-old actress is the fifth wife of the Oscar winner. The couple, who tied the knot on February 16, 2021, is expecting their first child together. Cage's child will be his third. He already has two boys from prior relationships, Weston, 31, and Kal-El, 16.
