Is your pet missing? Animal Control in Springfield now has an online photo gallery to help reunite pets with their owners.
Springfield Animal Control will begin posting images of missing animals arriving at their shelter on Facebook every weekday in the hopes of locating their owners.
Each morning, photos of missing animals sheltered at Animal Control will be uploaded so Greene County citizens may obtain an up-to-date view of the animals in our care. Everyone is asked to like and share the page in order for more pets to be reunited with their owners "according to a news release from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.
Animal Control's Facebook page can be found at facebook.com/sgcanimal. You can phone 417-833-3592 or come to the Animal Control shelter (4002 N. Farmer Ave.) during open hours if your animal is noticed on their website or on the Animal Control Facebook page.
Animal Control was able to reconnect 546 dogs with their owners in 2021. An additional 729 dogs and cats, including animals relinquished by owners, were transferred to rescue organizations to be adopted out according to the press release Unfortunately, some of those sent to rescue organizations may have been reunited with their owners if the owners had known that their pets had been found and sheltered at Animal Control. That is something that this resource attempts to change.
If a Springfield resident loses a pet, they can use the Animal Lost & Found form to see if the animal has been picked up or taken to the Animal Control shelter. Readers can also use the form to report a stray dog discovered within city borders.
