In an unusual method, a local organization assists in the rescue of pets.
Our primary focus was pets whose owners had died away; we wanted to provide sanctuary for them, and we rapidly filled up, so we quickly extended to accept just about any kitten or dog in our community, said Dawn Harris, President and Founder of Revelation Gardens.
According to Harris, she saw an increase in the number of animals being surrendered and wanted to help pet owners avoid putting their dogs away.
We launched Buddy's Bowl, a community outreach organization that aims to provide pet owners with the resources they require to maintain their pets. We don't fix all of the problems, but we attempt to equip them by linking them to community resources, Harris said.
To gather funds for the rescues, Harris says she had to go outside the box.
I'm a very creative person who tries to make things and upcycles. Some of the wind chimes were made from pet food cans, so 100% of the proceeds go to our rescues, Harris explained.
She further claims that the organization takes pride in allowing the rescued to roam freely.
It helps children become more socialized and prepared to live in a home atmosphere, where they learn to interact, feel protected, and love. We also show nature videos and conduct a lot of enrichment activities to help them recuperate and feel comfortable, Harris explained.
She claims that the organization is always on the lookout for volunteers to assist with the care of the rescue animals.
