Huntsville's single pets are looking for love!
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-- You're not alone if you're looking for love this Valentine's Day. Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) has a number of pets in a lonely location.
That's why HAS is throwing a week-long party called "I (heart) HAS" to help both sides discover love throughout the holiday season.
Every day this week, a different animal in need of a home will be highlighted on the HAS Facebook page with its own customized ad. Open house activities will be held on Friday and Saturday, February 11-12, and again on Valentine's Day to cap off the seven-day lovefest for these homeless dogs.
Anyone is welcome to come to the shelter for "speed dates" with possible partners, and HAS will sweeten the deal by providing Valentine's goodie packages for both two-legged and four-legged visitors (while supplies last).
HAS Director Dr. Karen Sheppard said, "I (heart) HAS is a terrific way for the community to show love for not just our animals, but also the shelter employees and volunteers who work so hard to find them homes." Whether you're in a relationship or alone this Valentine's Day, these animals have a lot of love to share and would appreciate receiving some love in return.
Most animals will have their adoption fees reduced to $35 during the weeklong offer, while some exceptions will still apply, according to the shelter. HAS states it has a foster program as well as "sleepovers" for those who are unable to make the long-term commitment of adoption.
Every pet adopted from the shelter is vaccinated, neutered or spayed, microchipped, and comes with a city license as well as a complimentary bag of pet food.
Instead of swiping left or right to discover which adorable faces are available, go to the shelter's website to see photographs and descriptions of all the adoptable (single) pets.
HAS is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4950 Triana Blvd.
