For Dubai's VIPs, it's a dog's life.

Doggy heaven: At My Second Home luxury pet resort and spa dogs get their own swimming pool. (Euronews)
Dubai is awash in pet pampering options, from luxury resorts and day-care centers to canine paddling pools and opulent grooming salons.
Shampooch, which began as a mobile grooming service, continues to pamper clients on the go in its signature pink and yellow Shampooch vans, while also providing an upscale salon experience.
Four-legged clients are welcome to model for 'before' and 'after' photographs against Shampooch's bright pink photo wall, and makeovers are completed with a spritz of canine scent.
They run around, make friends, chase balls, and play in the backyard. They are having a fantastic day.
In addition, in the heart of Jumeirah's wealthy residential neighborhood, doggy daycare and overnight "boutique hotel" boarding are available.
At Shampooch, we have a diverse clientele, including people from all over the world, including Dubai. It's a veritable melting pot of civilizations. It's the same with dogs, so we receive all kinds of pets, Managing Partner Shaheen Shahani explains. We have clients who come to us to have their dogs groomed, and we have a lot of busy professionals who leave their dogs in our day-care facility when they go to work in the morning.
Dogs come here for the day, which is similar to going to school. They run around, make friends, chase balls, and play in the backyard. They are having a fantastic day. They return home exhausted, joyful, and fulfilled, which benefits the owners as well.
My Second Home in Dubai Investment Park is another popular canine resort, with indoor and outdoor canine swimming pools, an indoor air-conditioned park, and a variety of suites for overnight visits.
We have just about everything you can think for dogs, says Sean Parker, director and general manager of My Second Home. We offer overnight boarding, doggie daycare and schools, grooming services, a dog park, and our pet limousine service." We have a variety of suites ranging from standard to deluxe, and each suite, regardless of whether it's a regular or presidential suite, comes with a camera so worried parents can keep an eye on their dogs while they sleep.
There are several pet-friendly hotels in Dubai that cater to both humans and their four-legged companions, but only one is created both inside and out by the late iconic designer Dame Zaha Hadid – ME Dubai in Business Bay.
A dog bed and blanket, complimentary poop bags, dog brush and wash, and dog bowls are included in ME Dubai's 'Pooch by ME' package. Executive Chef James Knight-Pacheco of ME Dubai has also devised a pet-friendly room service menu.
Doing a pet menu was a major challenge, Knight-Pacheco explains. Normally, I cook for humans, so I had to do a lot of study into what went into dog food and cat food this time. And, of course, because we were in the Zaha Hadid building, we had to have a design twist.
"There are items on the menu for puppies, dogs, and cats. They go by many names, such as Raise the Woof and Notorious D.O.G., and are always protein-based with a small amount of carbohydrates and no flavor because dogs' digestive processes require extreme caution."
In Dubai, pet-friendly eateries are becoming increasingly popular. Pet treats are available at Reform Social & Grill Dubai in The Lakes, though most pets seem to be content with leftovers from the venue's lavish roast meals.
Green Planet at City Walk, Dubai's only indoor rainforest, offers a variety of animal encounters for a completely different petting experience. Bugs, snakes, sugar gliders, and sloths are all available for visitors to handle. Erik Rohrkaste, an animal care supervisor, is part of the team in charge of encounters. 'Raise the Woof,' as the saying goes.
