It is well known that blessing animals is a religious practice.
Each year on or around October 4, Christians all across the world commemorate the Feast of Saint Francis with a blessing of animals and prayers for creation. Animals and the environment are protected by Saint Francis.
Other religions, such as Islamism, Judaism, and Shintoism, also commemorate the occasion.
