While Romania has allowed unvaccinated Ukrainian dogs to enter the country, Poland and Hungary have also eased their standards, allowing animals to enter without a microchip, tattoo, or immunizations.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began near the country's eastern borders early on February 24, thousands of people have fled to neighboring nations. While some people have left their pets behind, others have made sure to bring them with them as they fled.
Romania has permitted animals from Ukraine to enter with their human guardians, even if they are not vaccinated, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Poland and Hungary have similarly eased their regulations, allowing animals to enter without having to be microchipped, tattooed, or vaccinated.
During the invasion, Ukrainian soldiers were also spotted caring for their dogs.
Since Russia launched its invasion on Ukraine, photos and videos of Ukrainian civilians sheltering their dogs and escaping with their beloved animals have gone viral on social media.
Rishabh Kaushik, a student at the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics who is currently in Kyiv, refused to put his dog in a life-threatening position. The little kid has been told that he must complete all documentation before leaving with his pet. Kaushik stated that he had attempted to contact the Indian Embassy but had received little assistance in his evacuation.
Nolan Peterson, a former USAF special operations pilot and war reporter living in Ukraine, took to Twitter to share a photo of his cat, describing how brave she has been throughout the situation. Peterson made the message from a bomb shelter in Ukraine.
On social media, there have been a lot of additional messages of pet owners in Ukraine attempting to evacuate with their animals.
