Are you looking for a pet? Consider a small one.
Local animal shelters are bursting at the seams with adoptable pets, especially if you think tiny. Cailey Bloomgarden-Bredin, associate director of Animal Care Operations at the Animal Rescue League, said, "All of our shelters are absolutely packed of guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and hamsters."
The organization's adoption facilities had a total of 48 mice,
44 rabbits, 32 guinea pigs, 22 rats, and 10 hamsters as of Friday. Degus,
birds, chinchillas, ferrets, and gerbils are also present. According to Rob
Halpin, MSPCA-chief Angell's communications officer, there was even a hedgehog,
a bearded dragon, and a sugar glider.
