Within the city limits of San Diego, Cowles Mountain is the highest peak you can reach. There are plans in the works to expand the area's trail system.

Ward Canyon Dog Park is an off-leash area of Ward Canyon Park in San Diego, California, with two gated cages on tumbling wood chipping areas: one for tiny dogs and one for large or all dogs. Pergolas, park benches, and a parking space are also available. The park is open seven days a week from dawn to dark.

Throughout the year, Societe Brewing Company sponsors a variety of fundraisers for local animal rescue groups. On-site food trucks are available.
