Windy Hill Open Space Preserve

Bring your pet to this great Palo Alto public park to play off-leash. Pets are only allowed on weekdays.

As you walk the trails of this gorgeous Palo Alto preservation area, keep your pet on a leash.

From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., pets are permitted to play off-leash at the baseball field at Nealon Park.

At Portola Redwoods State Park, dogs are permitted in campsites, picnic areas, paved roads, and the Upper and Lower Escape Roads. The park's trails, unfortunately, are not dog-friendly. Portola is the place to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley and the South Bay Area. This 2,800-acre shady redwood forest is just down the road from some of California's busiest areas. The park is open from 6 a.m. to sunset every day of the week.

This dog park offers off-leash play, as well as drinking water, trees, gravel, and a separate area for tiny dogs.

Mitchell Park offers an off-leash dog exercise area behind Spangler School on the south side of the park.
