Hatcher Pass Management Area
At state parks and campgrounds, pets must be leashed and accompanied by their owners at all times; unleashed dogs are permitted in the wilderness but must be under voice direction. If you have a pet, please clean up after it. Within 100 feet of a cabin, sled dogs and horses should not be tied. The Hatcher Pass Management Area is mostly made up of hilly terrain in the Talkeetna Mountain Range that rises from a valley floor of 1000 feet to summits of over 6,000 feet. In the summer, Hatcher Pass provides access to exceptional mountaineering terrain, stunning mountain views, gold panning, berry picking, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. During the winter, it also offers mountain skiing, snowboarding, sledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The Palmer-Fishhook road leads to the east side of Hatcher Pass from Mile 49.5 on the Glenn Highway, while the Willow-Fishhook Road off the Parks Highway leads to the west entrance.
