The Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a countrywide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an underused railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Fido in Pacific Grove! A parking lot with easy access to the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail is shown on the map below.

Bring Petzooie on a leash to this popular site to appreciate the beauty of coastal California. Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove, California, is a one-mile stretch of rocky coves and sandy beach. The Asilomar Coast Trail, a one-mile coast walking trail, is open to pedestrians. Enjoy a day spent surrounded by nature by exploring the forest, the seashore, or the Dune Boardwalk with your dog. Dogs are allowed on the state beach and the coast trail, but they must be leashed at all times and under the handler's direct control.

Between Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, Rip Van Winkle Open Space is a dog-friendly location. The park above Asilomar State Beach is open at all times. In the parking lot, dog poop bags are available for free.
