This huge park, which borders Hiestand Woods Conservation Park, has a variety of leisure opportunities. A disc golf course is available from spring to fall, and the park also has a reservable athletic field, a reservable picnic shelter with solar lights, and a bike route that connects the park to the surrounding neighborhood.

Many parks, trails, and natural resource places of interest are included within the Capital Springs Recreation Area border. The park features a 28-acre off-leash dog park with a 3-acre small dog area, as well as roughly a mile of hard-surface walking pathways across restored prairie and an accessible parking area.
