Bayshore Bikeway (Silver Strand Bikeway)

The Tijuana Estuary in Imperial Beach, California, has numerous miles of dog-friendly hiking trails. Dogs must be kept on a leash. Binoculars are available for loan at the visitor center. The trails are open every day from dawn to night.

The Bayshore Bikeway (Silver Strand Bikeway) is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a charity dedicated to building a statewide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an underused railroad track, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in San Diego! The map below shows a parking spot with easy access to the Bayshore Bikeway, which is dog-friendly (Silver Strand Bikeway).

The city of Chula Vista celebrated the launch of what will be the largest dog park in the South Bay about a year after the city council originally voted to create a dog run at Rohr Park.

On the basketball court and soccer fields, there is usually a pick-up game going on. A picnic or movie night with friends and neighbors may be had just across the park on an amphitheater-style grass.
