At Lake Poinsett State Park, take a leisurely walk with your dog along the 1.1-mile Great Blue Heron Trail or go fishing in the lake. Most outdoor places allow pets as long as they are restrained physically or on a leash no longer than six feet. Owners of noisy or dangerous pets, as well as pets that harm or harass wildlife, will be asked to remove them. Pets are not permitted in or around hotel establishments. There are many picnic tables for family lunches, a heated and cooled pavilion, a children's playground, and an open field for ball games in the day-use area.
